Article on Collaboration with Peugeot Citroen Moteurs, France
In June 2010, AVTEC and Peugeot Citroen Moteurs, a department of the French Group PSA Peugeot Citroen, have signed a memorandum of understanding for manufacture and assembly of Peugeot Citroen range of engines, transmissions and components from AVTEC facilities for distribution and sale in India.
PSA Peugeot Citroen is a Euro 56 Billion automobile group producing more than 3.5 million cars from 16 locations around the globe with 2,00,000 employees. With head quarters in France, they are the leader in direct injection diesel technology.
The engines using diesel and petrol fuel are capable of meeting Euro V norms with a range from 1.0 to 3.0 liters producing 50 to 177 KW power. The matching manual, automated manual and fully automatic transmissions cover range from 160 to 370 N-M torque.
As a first step, AVTEC and Peugeot Citroen Moteurs have entered into a license agreement from November 2010, to manufacture and sell engines suitable for producing 15 to 30 KW electric power for nonautomotive segment – genset, construction equipment like portable mixer, compactors. The production facilities for these engines at the AVTEC, Pithampur plant will go on stream from September 2011. The engines will be branded as “AVTEC Engines manufactured under license from Peugeot Citroen Moteurs”
Going forward AVTEC and Peugeot Citroen Moteurs intend to foray into the automotive segment by offering Euro IV / Euro V engines to vehicles manufacturers in domestic and global market.
