supplier, once again
demonstrating the high quality of its
products
Ford ranks as one of the world’s largest
automotive manufacturers with locations
in North America
(Ford), Europe (Ford, Volvo, Land Rover,
Jaguar and Aston Martin) and Asia
(Mazda). In order to
guarantee a uniformly high production
and quality standard throughout the
world, Ford has established
its own quality system that aims to
ensure that suppliers meet these
standards. This system is known asQ1.
Q1 – more than the standard
With Q1, Ford is extending the
requirements of international quality
standards, such as
DIN ISO TS 16949, to
include specific requirements for the
quality management
system of a potential supplier. As
stipulated in its own set of
regulations, Q1 comprises a complete
package of fundamental quality and
production standards geared to ensuring
that, in future, all suppliers
will operate successfully on the market
and are committed to ongoing further
development. In order to
be admitted as a series supplier to
Ford, manufacturers have to attain the
so-called Q1 status.
Ford confers the Q1 award on suppliers
who have achieved a uniformly high level
of customer
satisfaction. For Ford, this means
meeting high requirements in terms of
quality, reliability, material
management and engineering services in
an exemplary manner. |

The combination of TS & ISO 9001 Systems and Business Process Reengineering has strengthened and nurtured an Internal Audit System enabling continuous improvement to be the theme of operations at AVTEC.
The process has been further enhanced by a rejuvenated Suggestion Scheme and Quality Circle movement. The number of suggestions received has doubled every year. The Number of Quality Circle projects completed and implemented have also increased steadily.
AVTEC has also embarked on Six sigma journey as a means to improve productivity and better utilization of resources. |
